Following the San Rocco 14 call for papers the proposed text sets out to discuss the little known urban planning concept entitled Wien der Zukunft by the Viennese Arbeitsgruppe 4 – who at the time were one of the leading Austrian architects connecting architectural practice and critical considerations concerning the city.
Their concept, which was presented as an exhibition in the Olivetti-Austria Gallery with accompanying catalogue in 1964, offered a collage of historical visions for Vienna, both in drawn and text form, combined with a new set of general rules and a concrete urban plan for a development principle “completing” the radial plan on the “other side” of the Danube.
